Meet Our Staff

My name is Mary Nic Ailín and I am the Principal of Naíscoil & Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir. I have been working in our school since 2003. I thoroughly enjoy my role as Principal. The children who attend our Nursery and Primary School are central to all that I do. The child centered atmosphere in our school is what makes our work worthwhile. Our parents and our wider school community support our work as we deliver high quality education for our children. When I am not working I enjoy Irish dancing and even a bit of keep fit. We have recently started a "bootcamp" in school for adults. The craic is great and we are progressing bit by bit each week.

My name is Alicia O’Kane and I am the acting principal this year of Naíscoil & Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir. I am also the SENCO, and Numeracy and Assessment coordinator. I have been working in the school since September 2011 and have been teaching for over 20 years within the Irish-medium sector. I particularly enjoy the close knit community we have built here in our school at Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir with our parents and the local community. The pupils of Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir have been a real pleasure to teach and a credit to their parents! In my spare time, I like to practice yoga and spend time with family and friends. I have recently taken ukulele lessons, and I am really enjoying it!

 

My name is Deirdre Crabtree.  I am currently teaching in Rang 1 and this is my 8th year teaching in the school. I am the literacy co-ordinator. I love all sports but expecially Rugby, Gaelic and Football. I am a proud supporter of Manchester City. I enjoy the challenge of new sports and I am just beginning to play Netball and Kickboxing. 

 

My name is Patricia Mhic Thorcaill originally Nic Ruairí from Tory Island and Falcarragh,Co.Donegal. I am a fluent Irish speaker having been brought up and educated in the Donegal Gaeltacht. I have inherited the rich musical tradition from Tory Island and I teach the art of Sean-nós singing to children both at home and in school. I have recently taken up the position of singer in residence at a cultural centre at home in Falcarragh. I was honoured to be given that opportunity in honour of my late father ‘Éamonn Mac Ruairí’. I have been teaching in Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir since 2005 and began my teaching career in 1998. I get great satisfaction from teaching as it allows me to pass on the education and knowledge that I was so lucky to receive along with the gift of music and singing. I co-ordinate the subjects Music and World Around Us at school while also leading the Eco-Schools Project. We were very proud to be awarded the Eco-schools green flag June’13 and an additional higher level achievment flag in June 2015.

Is mise Antoin de Brún The children call me múinteoir Tony. I have been working in the Gaelscoil from the beginning- I was on the original committee that helped the original founding parents to establish the school. I've had many roles during my time here and have taught all the classes. We in Gaelscoil are a rights respecting school and i have overall responsibility for co-ordinating Personal Development & Mutual Understanding PDMU. I have watched this wee school grow from small and humble beginnings to the great school and Irish language community that it is. The staff with the help of our parents work together for the benefit of the pupils. Ní neart go cur le chéile ! Unity is Strength !

My name is Noírin Ní Mhianáin. I have been working in Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóír for nine years. I worked in Naíscoil Éadain Mhóir first then moved in to the gaelscoil. I am currently working as a classroom assistant in Rang 1 at the minute. 

My name is Margaret and I have been a dinner lady at Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir for the past 14 years. I love seeing the children come in to our canteen every day and it amazes me that they are fluent in Irish from such a young age. The children in our school are so well mannered and they always remember to say "please" and "thank you" which i think is very important. 

My name is Charlene McCarron I have been teaching in our school since 2004. As well as my role as class teacher, I'm also the Numeracy Coodinator in the school. 

My name is Moira Armstrong and I have been teaching here for since 2005. Previously I was a member of the committee which founded the school, so I feel very privilaged to be working here now as a teacher. I am the ICT co-ordinator in the school.

My name is Éamon and  I have been a member of staff here at Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir since 2011. I attained an Irish medium primary school and secondary school and I completed my degree in Irish language and literature in 2010. I currently work as a special needs assistant have have been doing so for 3 years. I love my job and the school, no two days are ever the same.

I am Múinteoir Mairead. I love working in Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir. I have been teaching in the school since 2010. I thoroughly enjoy my job. I love working with the children. 

My name is Orlagh and I work as a classroom assistant in Rang 1 and 2. I've been working in Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir for the past ten years. My Children also attend the school. I really enjoy working here and i can see the benefits of Irish medium education having attended an Irish medium primary school myself. 

My name is Sinéad. I have been working in Naíscoil Éadain Mhóír for nine years. I really enjoy working in the Naíscoil. It's great craic and every day is different with the children. It is great to see how fast they pick up Irish and I am always suprised at how fluent they are when leaving the Naíscoil in June. 

My name is Niamh Carlin. I am the new secretary in our school. I have been taught through the medium of Irish since Nursery. I enjoy working in the office supporting parents and pupils. The children of Naíscoil & Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir are very welcoming and polite. I have one daughter, Amelia, who attends our Naíscoil, which she loves!

Is mise Nicole Lamberton. I have been the naíscoil teacher the past three years in Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir. I love working with the younger children and watching them flourish throughout the year. I am always amazed by how much they grow in confidence and how fluent they become in Irish by the end of the year. I have went through the Irish medium education system myself since nursery level and it is a priviledge for me to pass on the gift of bilingualism to the next generation.

My Name is Leona. I am a dinner lady at Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir. I love coming to Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir. I work in a few different schools and i must say that i always have a smile on my face when i come in here. The staff and children are all so welcoming and pleasant. It is a pleasure to be part of such a fabulous school. The children here have healthy lunches and dinners each day which i think is very important with regards to their health.

My name is Ed, I am a cleaner in Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir. I have been part of the staff here for years now. I thoroughly enjoy my job and love to be kept busy.

My name is Jayne Gormley. I have been teaching for 5 years and I am currently teaching Rang 1 in my first year in Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir. I thoroughly enjoy my job as a foundation stage teacher. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, and playing and listening to music. 

 

Is mise Corey Hanna.

I started working in Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir a few years ago as secretary/ classroom assistant. The Gaelscoil's staff and students inspired me to become a teacher which seen me taking a year out to complete my PGCE in Irish Medium Education and I could not be happier to be back here now as a teacher!

I love all sorts of extra-curricular activities, especially sports, as I have my black belt and 2 World titles in Kickboxing.

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am teaching P5/6 this year. I love this class and have to say that this is one of the best classes I have ever taught. I have 15 years teaching experience, mainly in Irish medium primary schools and have experience teaching all ages! I am working in a brilliant school and the children and staff are lovely. Outside school I enjoy walking, running, travelling and of course retail therapy!

My name is Álainn and I am a classroom assistant in Rang 1. I have just started to work here this year although I helped out in the Naíscoil last year. I am a past-pupil of Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir and I am delighted to be back again! Myself and my family have attended this school, and I really see the benefits for Irish-medium education.

My name is Rebecca and I am a Special Needs classroom assistant. I have worked here in Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir since 2015. I am a past-pupil of the school and love being back! I really love the Irish language and the opportunities it has given me so far

My Name is Pat. I am a dinner lady at Gaelscoil Éadain Mhóir. I have been working at the school for a few years now. I love working in the Naíscoil . The children are so polite and it's a pleasure to come to work.
